BOG “JS MOD”
US$229 / R$ 1.049
The BOG JS Mod came up from a suggestion made by Josh Smith: it’s a version of the BOG without the input stage, that is, with the same input impedance of a traditional fuzz face: it prefers to be first in the signal chain, but in the other hand it has that fat and soft pick attack and a fast clean up on the guitar volume!
All that with the fantastic BOG controls to shape your fuzz beyond infinity!
BACKGROUND STORY
Back in 2018, Josh Smith toured around the globe using our BOG fuzz as his main fuzz tone, as he shows in this Guitarist magazine rig tour video. That white box BOG was purchased directly from us in 2017 and didn't have any mods, it's absolutely identical to any other white BOG we've delivered since 2012.
During that tour, we were in touch getting his impressions on the pedal, using it live in every show.
From that experience, came his request of having a BOG with a traditional fuzz face clean up (which means removing the additional input stage and moving back in the FF direction). In August 2018 he got the pedal with the mod, in a gorgeous red enclosure with cream graphics and black knobs. And now, in 2024, we’re offering that version for the first time as a BOG Special Edition.
(So, just to be clear: if you see a video of Josh with a white box BOG, it's the standard BOG circuit, no mods there! His modded BOG has a red box.)
Please remember that this version of the BOG has low input impedance, which is essential to its specific features of the original fuzz face circuit. That means it works best when connected directly to a passive instrument, with no other circuit between them. So we recommend you to put it first in your pedal chain for the intended tone. However, nothing impedes (pun intended) you from trying and even preferring its tone after other pedals or buffers, feel free to experiment!
If you need a pedal without those constraints, you want the standard BOG.
